Living Life

The young master and his bride had plans for the farmhouse, and apart from starting their family, setting the renovations in motion was an exciting prospect for both.

Virgil was a considerate son and he loved his mother, so he asked her thoughts on the matter. After all, it was she who had made it into the home that it was for the family. Besides, Verity had been running the house for the longest years and she would know what needed to be addressed in terms of repairs.
Verity was all for improvements, but to be honest, she was simply happy to have Virgil back home and safe, so anything he wanted to do to the house was fine with her.

The new telephone allowed Virgil to ring a contractor in town and arrange a meeting; he liked to have a solid plan before starting the project.

Verity had grieved for her losses, but she was also capable of appreciating her blessings, so she could be happy.

In fact, one day, she was so happy that she couldn't help but stand up and start dancing when she heard they had the reels on the wireless.

Another reason to be happy was that Virgil shared with his mother that Elizabeth was with child, and they were to welcome their first baby before the year was over.

Elizabeth had learned to love her mother in law, and it made her glad to have the old woman to guide her, especially during those months.

As nature has it, in due time Elizabeth was ready to bring her child to the world.

And, as Life has it, at that exact moment, when Verity was rushing to aid her daughter in law, she collapsed almost in the same spot where her dear Mr. McPherson did all those years ago.

Everyone was sad for losing Verity, but for Virgil it was bittersweet that she did not get to hold his first son in her arms.
However, he tried to shower his baby boy with the same love his mother had given him from the day he was born.
