Decades Challenge TS4: 1890s Chapter 1

The last days of winter brought Verity to her new home, Rowanwood Farm, her husband's property in the Windenburg realm. She had to admit that the farm and house look very nice.

There is a well and an out house near the main house!!! Her own father's farm was not small, but Verity's siblings had to walk quite a while into the woods to relieve themselves.

All in all, Father had done well by Verity. She had been taking care of her mother for some years, so she was not young enough to find a husband easily. However, Father had found out that the nephew of a neighbor had been busy with his own farm and just recently thought to look for a bride. As long as the bride could bear him children, he was not much concerned about her years. Father negotiated with the neighbor and they agreed on a reasonable dowry. Verity was married to the nephew, Mr. McPherson, immediately after the last snow melted away.

As soon as Verity and Mr. McPherson were done planting the crops for the year, he started working on his other "seeding". Vance McPherson was a sensible sim, he wanted children, and the sooner his bride was with child, the better for him. He wanted a large family.

Verity was also relieved when she soon discovered she was with child. It was part of the bargain her father had pledged. She did not want to let anyone down. And she supposed that she wanted a family as well.

The inside of the house is good enough. The fireplace is large and the two rooms feel cozy.

Since Verity had been nursing her mother to health, her other sisters had taken care of the cooking in Father's house. She only knew how to make frank'n beans, but she hoped Mr. McPherson would not realize this until later on.

Mr. McPherson's work on the farm was efficient and the crops started to look promising. Soon they would harvest the solid foundations of their family.
