Decades Challenge TS4: 1900s Chapter 1

Edwardian Era: 1900s

To commemorate the turn of the century, Mr. McPherson chose to have a new portrait made. By then, they had their youngest boy, Virgil.

The latest addition to the farm was a wooden barn. It was a simple building right next to Verity's laundry space.

In the back of the barn there was a covered shed where Mr. McPherson could do his wood carving.

The farm was expanding under the care of Mr. McPherson and the suggestions of his business partners.

There was not much to see about the barn, but Vance McPherson was considering whether to get hired hands to make his farming more efficient. The time when he traveled to meet with his partners could be well used by working the farm.

Things at home were as usual. Verity took care of the children and the house, and Vance could not complain about anything she did.

During one of his latest travels he decided it was time to give himself a comfortable sofa on which to read the newspapers. He told Verity that the nursery was going to be turned into his parlour. New wall paper was put on the walls. He bought a carpet that went from wall to wall. New lamps adorned the walls, too.

Their bedroom became the "master bedroom". More wall paper was put on. Vance had made a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.

The new feature that made Vance the most proud was the indoor bathroom. They had a tub on the top floor. There was privacy for everyone now that the children were growing. Vance bought a large mirror that he ordered while visiting his partners, too.
